A contract to replace a section of concrete carriageway on the A12 trunk road in Essex has been awarded to Morgan Sindall.
Morgan Sindall are to rebuild eight miles of the A12 carriageway between Marks Tey (junction 25) and Stanway (junction 26). The delapidated road surface will be removed together with some foundations and replaced with recycled material base and new asphalt running surface.
Completion of the project is planned for early 2024.
The drainage system will also be refurbished, safety barriers replaced, new road markings, new reflective cats eyes and replacement kerbs put in place.
National Highways have allocated £400m to replace or repair 150 miles over the next three years. Contractors John Sisk & Sons and Morgan Sindall Infrastructure signed framework deals with National Highways last year for the big works replacing concrete with asphalt.
