Virtual Reality for Driver’s Training

Virtual reality technology in Certifiucate of Professional Competence (CPC) driver training is to be used by Falco Construction following trials which took place earlier this month.

The company is to now require all it driver’s to attend a Work Related Road Risk (WRRR) course which will be organised by Fleet Source driver training specialist.

As part of the course trainees will wear VR headsets in order to experience a true-to-life 6 hour sesion which will include live scenarios from a variety of perspectives, inside the vehicle, cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders, in order to simulate situations likely to be encountered and how best to react and deal with them.

Jason Shreeve, Falco’s fleet & facilities manager said: “This is a major change in the way we receive CPC training the VR module brings scenarios to life”.

The Fleet Operation Recognition Scheme is a voluntary accreditation scheme demonstrating which operators achieve best practice in safety, efficiency, together with environmental protection.
