A contract to build office and laboratory space has been awarded by the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) to Kier.
The project is for an 8,000 sqm research and development building at Culham Science Centre near Abingdon in Oxfordshire.
A rig hall for research and development will be part of the four storey office building, also a multi-storey car park. Multiple tenants will be able to use the engineering and office spaces.
The contract was procured through the Crown Commercial Service framework with construction planned to begin this autumn.
This project will create jobs while driving economic growth and also help the UK attain a leading position in the international scientific community.
It is anticipated that the investment into Culham Science Centre will support companies contributing to the UKs world recognised fusion technology cluster.
