Sunbelt signs deal with Britishvolt

A collaboration deal with Britishvolt has been agreed with Sunbelt Rentals Plant Hire Group in order to help the start up battery cell manufacturer develop products which will be specific to heavy industry.

Sunbelt Rentals has confirmed its support to develop Britishvolt’s 38GWh battery Gigaplant in Cambois, Northumberland and to create ‘economies of carbon’.

ISG is to build the factory.

The project will also see a joint onsite battery rental facility at Cambois.

Andy Wright, Sunbelt UK chief executive said: “This will be more than just a commercial collaboration the two companies will be supporting the development of heavy plant and equipment battery solutions for the construction and equipment rental sectors and will help support part of the future renewable energy in the UK”.

Tom Courtney, Britishvolt chief governance officer said: “The differentiator which created the initial interest from Sunbelt is Britishvolt’s cutting edge battery cell technology developments, the bespoke approach given to customer requirements together with delivering battery solutions in volume. With Britishvolt and Sunbelt to jointly operate the onsite rental facility this will also give an immense boost to our ESG strategy and bring with it economies of carbon and reduce the construction supply chain carbon footprint”,
