Special Department set up by Countryside

A special operations team has been set up in order to take on the large task of fixing the many buildings social housing builder Countryside has constructed over the last 30 years.

Due to the amount of remediation work needed a new standalone division has been established to manage and deliver the project. £19m has been set aside for the new department as the work is expected to take up to 10 years to complete.

The company shows in its half year accounts a further £109m provision for remediation of the buildings. This is of course, is in addition to £41.0m in 2021, and shows a total provision for fire safety as £150m.

The estimation cost for the work is essentially complex and depends on many different factors such as the size of the building, cost of the investigation, replacement materials, labour needed and also the cost of managing any disruption to residents. Our provision has been calculated on previous experience of remediation works and information available at the time.
