Retirement Complex in South Oxfordshire

A £50m retirement complex in Lower Shiplake has received reserved planning matters approval from South Oxforshire District Council.

The new development by Galliard Homes, in a joint venture with Probitas Developments is to be marketed as Henley Meadows.

The project is to have 65 apartments and cottages, with onsite assisted living facilities.

Galliard are planning to begin construction on the 6-acre site in April 2022, with completion aimed for the third quarter of 2023.

Designed to look and feel like a village the project is to be built with brick and a dark timber cladding, rising three-stories high with six apartments on each level. Off street parking together with their own private gardens front and rear will be the design for the two-storey cottages.

Beatrix Lehnert, Probitas Developments director said:”There would appear to be a shortage of high quality accommodation and services for the over 65’s. It is therefore our aim to offer top class homes, services and operations. Creating ‘healthy-homes’ to enable residents to continue to enjoy their lifestyle in high quality accommodation designed with attention to detail and able to live in a like minded community which has access to communal facilities and tailored support when required”.
