The main contractor for the exciting redevelopment of Theatr Clwyd, Mold, North Wales has been chosen to be Gilbert Ash.
The project is to include the intensive refurbishment of the existing theatre, which will see the 1970’s building stripped to its shell. There is to be a new build construction of a timber foyer to the front and carpentry workshop to the rear.
Additional work will also include new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, windows, roof covering together with theatre sound and light systems. Energy saving features will include a sun shading canopy to be made from larch and reused steel, air sourced heat pumps, solar panels and LED lighting. In addition there will also be a tree planting, green walls and roof planting project.
Gilbert Ash will work with architect Haworth Tompkins and project director Plann with the theatre aiming to serve as a real hub for performing arts in the region.
