Redditch Blue Light Scheme

A contract to build a new combined police and fire station has been awarded to Speller Metcalfe.

A joint bluelight services hub in the town of Redditch is the aim of West Mercia Police and Herefordshire & Worcestershire Fire & Rescue Service. The cost of the new project will be divided between the two authorities with the Police & Crime Commissioner paying 64% and the Fire Brigade paying 36% of the £17.6m cost.

For the most part the building will consist of offices and include a kitchen, gym, conference and meeting rooms to be used by both services. Additional facilities for the fire service will include an accommodation unit, a drill tower and appliance bay for the three service vehicles.

There will be a large car park for the use of staff and visitors and this will include some charging points.

The building itself has been designed by Bond Bryan Architects to achieve a BREEAM Good rating and is to be heated by air source heat pumps. The contract was procured through the Pagabo Medium Works Framework and Speller Metcalfe will build the facilities on Middle House Lane with plans for completion in 2024.
