Portland Port’s new deep-water berth

A £3.6m piling contract for Portland Port’s new deep-water berth has selected Red7Marine’s 1,000t jack-up barge, Haven SeaChallenger.

The project will see installations of 136 new steel tubular piles to create 400m of new combi-wall structure, as part of the re-development plans, with the latest part seeing the existing berth extended up to 250m in length and a new depth of 12m.

The new monohull jack-up barge, which is the biggest in the company’s fleet, will allow Red7Marine to take on bigger projects and also offer clients the opportunity to liveaboard. A bull rail arrangment on the port side to allow fitment of a pile gate is a feature and Red7Marine will be working with specialist engineers MintMech to design a piling gate for this project.

Providing operational support Red7Marine’s 400t Haven SeaSeven jack-up barge and Haven SeaStabler, a modular stabilised barge cross between a flat-top barge and a jack-up barge will be used.

Construction work is to begin in October, at the end of the cruise season, with the new berth planned to be operational by December 2023.
