Work on a project to improve the shoreside as part of the Penrhyn Bay development has been started by Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK.
Ruthin based Jones Bros are to procure 70,000 tonnes of rock armour sourced from North Wales quarries which will then be built in a T-shaped rigid hydraulic structure to reduce beach erosion and also help minimise the impact of stormy weather and coastal flooding.
Jones Bros will also procure shingle to replenish the beach with the aim of protecting the existing stepped defences, promenade and infrastructue behind it.
Plans for the project for Conwy Borough Council will also include improvements to the sea front, supply new railings, seats and surfacing. Plans are to complete these public space improvements by early summer.
