Next phase of Bristol’s Redcliff Quarter

Winvic Construction have been awarded a contract by property investor Madison Cairn to construct student accommodation.

The development will be the second phase of the new Redcliff Quarter in the city and will consist of a 12-storey block on the corner of St Thomas Street and Cross Street in Bristol.

Enabling work and piling has been completed by Winvic who now move on to groundworks which will incoporate under-slab drainage and ducts works and with the installation of concrete pile caps, beams, ring beams and the ground floor slab. The concrete frame programme will begin in April and will climb to 12 storeys with the building forming an L shape and will provide a 2,700 sq ft first-floor roof garden to the rear. The roof at level 12 is designed as a blue roof providing the building with the function of water attenuation.

The external aesthetic will use predominately brick and stone and metal cladding and has been influenced by Bristol Byzantine style. Red and blackbrick will be used on the facade together with fluted and flat glass reinforced concrete and metalwork cladding.
