A wind farm, Mill Rig Wind Farm which straddles the South Lanarkshire and East Ayrshire border, is to be built by Banks Renewables after planning permission is secured.
Construction costs are estimated at £11.7m and the six wind turbines will have an installed generation capacity of 36MW electricity which is enough to meet the needs of all households in a town the size of East Kirkbride.
Sustainability and external affairs manager at Banks Renewables said that securing planning permission is considered a major milestone for Mill Rig. The development will add many community and environmental benefits to the local area. Mill Rig Wind Farm, with the next stage of detailed design and construction, will help Scotland with its net zero targets strengthening the UK’s energy security by producing green electricity by 2025.
