New Trent Bridge

A new cycle/footbridge across the River Trent in Nottingham is to be built. This will be the first new crossing of the Trent in the city for 65 years. The building of the bridge will enable pedestrians and cyclists from the Lady Bay area south of the river to access the Trent Basin waterside housing estate on the north side of the river. Improved access to both sides of the river and the opportunity for less dependancy on car use will encourage opportunities for both employment and recreational opportunities.

Balfour Beatty are named as the principle contractor for the project with Pick Everard appointed as project manager and quantity surveyor. Both were appointed through Scape contract frameworks. The project follows £9m in government funding from the Transforming the Cities programme.

Feasibility studies have been completed together with work to decide on the exact location for this new structure. The planning application will follow by the summer.
