Kier Construction have been awarded a contract by Aberdeen City Council and NHS Grampian to build an integrated mortuary at the Foresthill Health Camp.
The Scottish government have contributed towards this project considering it to be an ‘innovative pathology learning facility’.
The development will consist of family consultation and private areas, meeting rooms, post-mortem rooms and body storage rooms. There will also be X-ray and CT scanner facilities together with a teaching area, a museum area and also an office for Police Scotland.
The building will be a two-storey all-electric building and is expected to have more than 600m of solar panels.
Plans are to have the project completed by spring 2024.
