New Headquarters for West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service

A contract to build a fire station at Bradford to become the headquarters for the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Services has been awarded to Willmot Dixon.

Demolition of existing buildings to make way for an urban search and rescue training centre has begun at the site in Birkenshaw, southeast of Bradford.

The Birkenshaw site redevelopment is part of a wider estates strategy designed to make all stations in the region modern and fit for purpose. The old headquarters in the Grade 11 listed Oakroyd Hall will be sold once the new build is completed which is planned for 2024.
