New Facilities for Kineton High School, Warwickshire

The construction of new facilities for Kineton High School in Warwickshire is to be undertaken by Wates Construction, after they formally signed a £29m contract.

New facilities in the grounds of the school will be built before the demolition of old buildings. The existing school will remain operational during these procedures.

Discussions for the design of the new school have taken place beween the Department for Education, Stratford-on-Avon District Council planning officers, Sport England and local councillors.

The position of the new sports block near local housing has caused local controversy, however, the school defended the layout. “The chosen option will minimise the impact on education and facilities within the school, including retaining the existing sports courts, pitches and trees, and also maintaining access for students, staff and the community throughout the three year construction project”. This will also introduce the sports facilities to the public side of the school site while allowing easy access for the community.

Completion for the sports hall is planned for January 2023 and completion for the new teaching block by March 2024.

Following construction completion the demolition of the existing school buildings, together with the format of a new car park and the relevant landscaping, should see Wates leave the site by January 2025.

Kineton High School is run by Stowe Valley Multi Academy Trust.
