A new Centre for Resilience in Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW) is to be built at the University of Exeter by Morgan Sindall Construction. This will be the 19th development of the the university by Morgan Sindall.
The new building is part funded by a UK Research Partnership Investment Fund grant from Research England also investment from the University of Exeter and South West Water and will provide shared research facilities for both the water company and the university.
The new centre is on the Streatham Campus, opposite the Harrison building. Work commenced in January of this year with completion planned for May 2023.
The plan is for the 14,000 sq ft CREWW centre to be built into the bank of the campus and have a basement and two above-ground floors. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems will be installed by the contractor into the labs, together with mechanical infrastructure and research lab equipment. Completion of the fittings will be done by the university.
Aided by air source heat pumps and rooftop solar panels the BREEAM excellent rated building will be net zero in operation.
