A pre-construction services agreement for a new building at the National Railway Museum, York, has been signed by construction contractor Graham.
CIty of York Council’s planning committee gave approval for the new Central Hall building at a recent planning committee meeting.
The project at Central Hall will showcase gallery space which will connect the museum’s Great Hall and Station Hall displaying innovations in rail technology. There will also be a cafe overlooking the new museum square, visitor facilities together with flexible event space.
Feildon Fowles has designed the new building and the heritage consultant is Mongtagu Evans. Work is planned to commence early 2023 with completion in 2025.
