A contract to refurbish the southern section of the 4VK line, which runs between Cottam and Wymondley, has been awarded to Morrison Energy Services.
The transmission networks team from Morrisons will undertake the renovation of 170km of overhead line running between Cottam Power Station in Nottinghamshire and Wymondley in Herefordshire, repairing lines which have been in use since the 1960’s.
Phase One, which has already been completed, replaced the conductors running between the pylons from Cottam to Ufford, Peterborough. The next proposed stage will require a 170 strong team to upgrade 80km of overhead line replacing the conductors and fittings between Peterborough and Wymondley. This next phase is planned to take place this year.
