Manchester office redevelopment for Gilbert-Ash

A project, estimated to be worth £28m to redevelop Manchester’s Evershed House has been awarded to Gilbert Ash as the main contractor.

Although the building at 70 Great Bridgewater Street was only built in 2001 it is to be reclad and refurbished. There will also be the addition of two storeys providing eight floors of CAT A office space. The existing masonry facade will be demolished and replaced with a unitised curtain wall and aluminium cladding facade system. An atrium infill to the existing floor plates is also part of the work planned.

Raymond Gilroy, Gilbert-Ash Construction director said: “The building is to be transformed into an innovative and modern place to work, however due to the Rochdale canal being on two sides of the project there will be the inevitable logistical issues that will need to be resolved. Our teams however, will aim to deliver something special”
