Lowestoft Harbour Design

The design contract for the Lowestoft Eastern Energy Facility has been awarded to civil engineering contractor McLaughlin & Harvey by Associated British Ports (ABP).

Marine facilities at Lowestoft’s Outer Harbour are to be upgraded to be able to support boats and barges installing offshore wind turbines.

The next phase of the project will see ABP invest approximately £1m in detailed design of infrastructure work to include the addition of extra capacity to be in a position of accommodating the next generation of larger offshore support vessels.

The project plans that the vessels will be able to start to use the facilities from 2024 as the design phase should take approximately six months and construction 12 months.
