The main contractor for the first phase of a logistics and industrial scheme in Knottingley, Yorkshire, has been awarded to McLaren Construction.
Henderson Park and Cole Waterhouse completed the purchase of the site and phase one of the Konect 62 Industrial Park, which is on the site of the former Kellingley Colliery, will see the speculative development of 1.1 m sq.ft of warehouse space across four units.
To be included in this development is a 735,000 sq.ft unit believed to be one of the largest ever constructed in the north of the UK also three further units of 161,000, 151,000 and 55,000 sq.ft. All units will be built to BREEAM Excellent Standards.
The Konect 62 development has full planning consent for 1.4 million sq.ft of logistics accommodation however plans are being submitted in the new year to increase the project to 1.8 million sq.ft.
