Plans have recently been approved for a housing development next to Barkingside tube station. Working together on the Barkingside scheme are social housing developer Vistry Partnerships and housing association Peabody, together with Transport for London’s Property arm TTL Properties.
The development will cover the area which was previously used as a builder’s yard next to Barkingside tube station. The project will have 98 new homes – all affordable- together with an improved public area. The new homes will consist of one, two and three bedroomed properties providing shared ownership and social rent properties.
Architect for the project Sheppard Robson has designed the development to complement the Grade 11 listed station. The new houses are designed to be car-free with no parking provided except for a small number of blue badge parking spaces. Cycle storage will be available within each of the buildings.
