Houghton Regis Leisure Centre

Morgan Sindall have been awarded a contract by Central Bedfordshire Council to build a new community leisure centre on the Kingsland Campus in Houghton Regis.

The project is one which is underpinned by a government Levelling Up Fund grant of £20m from the first round of awards in October 2021.

The two-storey building will consist of an eight-lane, 25 metre community swimming pool which is twice the size of the pool at the existing Houghton Regis Leisure Centre and will also include a learner pool with a moveable floor and a splash pool especially for toddlers. The leisure centre is being built on the site of the former Houghton Regis Academy School.

Included in the project will also be a fitness suite, two squash court, a spinning bikes studio and multi-use exercise studios.

Construction of the development is due to start in February 2023 with the new facilities expected to open by Autumn 2024.
