Hill Group wins appeal for development

Plans to turn 7.5 hectares of farmland at Killingdown Farm, Croxley Green, near Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire into a commuter belt housing estate has been won on appeal.

The new development is to have 160 new homes ranging from small apartments to five bedroom houses with work planned to begin in July 2022.

Hill Group have also demonstrated a biodiversity net gain of 10% with a commitment to plant 170 trees, together with hedgerows and bird boxes.

The Killingdown Farm development was continuously refused by Three Rivers District Council planning committee even though the land had already been allocated for housing.

Hill appealed and subsequently won with the planning inspector saying that the area needed more housing, which overode the local democratic will.

Andy Hill, Hill Group chief executive said: “We welcome the opportunity to build a remarkable community of well-made, energy efficient new homes which will include sustainable technology such as air-source heat pumps to help reduce carbon emissions”.
