Contractors to work on heat networks and residents’ heating systems are being sought by London Housing Association Notting Hill Genesis.
Notices have been published by Notting Hill Genesis for four contracts for work on its housing estates which have community heat networks.
Two of the contracts will be related to billing services while the remaining two will be for maintenance and metering services. The contracts will run for five years with the option of five more, and a contractor is able to apply for more than one of the contracts.
Notting Hill Genesis currently have 35 estates on heat networks. These are self-contained heating systems which are run from a single boiler room. With these heat networks it is the energy provider who allows it to buy energy at wholesale prices and then charge residents on a non-profit basis and those with pre-payment meters do not pay a higher rate for energy.
Some of the heat networks have recently undergone major works in order to improve the efficiency and also reliability. It is more important at this present time than ever due to the cost of living crisis that these systems run as efficiently as possible.
The procurement process for these contracts is due to launch at the end of October with plans for the contract to start in October 2023.
