Havant Thicket pipelines

Ward & Burke Construction have been awarded a contract to put in pipelines for the planned Havant Thicket reservoir, by Portsmouth Water.

The contract for the mains work is for a 4.6km long bi-directional pipeline to run from Bedhampton pumping station to the Havant Thicket reservoir.

Set to be the UKs first major new water storage reservoir since the 1980s work is expected to begin in 2024 with completion planned for 2029. The reservoir is to be built on a 160 hectare grassland site owned by Portsmouth Water and able to supply up to 21 million litres of water each day.

The £100m main reservoir construction contract is still to be awarded with a shortlist of Balfour Beatty, Hochtief (UK) and Mackley Jones JV (a joint venture of JT Mackely & Co and Jones Bros Ruthin).
