German power tool manufacturer Stihl have awarded a contract to Glencar to build its new GB Headquarters and distribution facility in Camberley, Surrey.
The new 121,000 sq ft development has been designed by Hale Architects and is to include 97,000 sq ft of warehouse space with automated picking and storage systems. There will also be a 25,000 sq ft facility for retailer training facilities, a canteen, workspaces and a technical workshop.
The plans will also include new car parking, service yard, landscaping together with the construction of new access from the adjoining A331.
The development is expected to take 42 weeks to build with completion planned by May 2023.
Managing director of Stihl GB, Kay Green said: “Stihl has enjoyed a sustained period of growth as a consequence of which we have outgrown our existing facilities. Our new purpose built headquarters represent significant capital investment and is a commitment to the future for our local workforce”.
