Glencar appointed for Crewe development

As part of the second and final phase of PLP’s employment park development at Basford West in Crewe, specialist warehouse developer PLP have appointed Glencar Construction to build an enormous 42,000 sqm (457,000 sq ft) shed.

Phase one of PLP Crewe was completed in 2020 and this was also constructed by Glencar. The construction of phase two is to begin imminently with completion scheduled for December.

Having already completed the first phase at Crewe, and also another development at Ellesmere Port this will be Glencar’s third scheme for PLP. The plans for Crewe 460 are aimed at a ‘best-in-class’ warehouse and logistics facility to feature a 15 metre clear internal height, 72 metre deep service yard, three-storey external offices 2,800 sqm (30,000 sq ft) and a car park with separate access and with 442 spaces.

Crewe 460 also includes solar photovoltaics, air source heating and cooling, LED lighting and of course electric charging points, as is the practice of all PLP’s speculatively development units they are constructed in accordance with the UK Green Building Council Carbon Net Zero standards.

The building is also designed for future flexibility with a strengthened roof to enable full coverage of solar photovoltaics, underground infrastructure which will allow 100% of all car and HGV parking spaces to have electric charging points.
