Fox Group increases in size

Blackledge Plant Hire has now been purchased by Blackpool based Fox Brothers – known as the Fox Group.

Seeking to position itself as a leading haulage & plant hire specialist in the region, Blackledge Plant Hire is Fox’s third recent acquisition. Blackledge Plant Hire is a second generation family-run business with 40 machines and 14 trucks.

In recent years Fox has increased in size when it took on Clive Hurt (Plant Hire) Ltd based in Leyland, and then with the acquisition of JJ O’Grady based at Lostock Hall, south of Preston.

Fox Group now has an integrated fleet of 230 wagons (including two new Volvo FE electric trucks) and more than 440 items of plant & machinery, together with more than 530 employees.

According to the Directors, the group is now aiming for an £85m turnover for 2022.

Paul Fox, managing director, said: “This latest acquisition makes perfect sense for us. We believe Blackledge is a well run business with great people and has a track record of providing an excellent service to a large range of clients. Obviously this also means we gain a welcome boost to the group’s existing fleet”.
