With recycling a regular topic of conversation at this present time it is good to see that Bath & North East Somerset Council have recently awarded a contract to Farrans Construction to be main contractor for a £39m domestic recycling centre in Keynsham.
Work has already commenced at the site and will include a charity shop for any unwanted items suitable to sell, as well as recycling facilities. The site also has plans to include an MOT Car Test Centre together with an education centre.
Glen Gilmore, Farrans regional director said: “The project, named as the Keynsham Recycling Hub, will incorporate many sustainability measures together with on-site renewable energy generation”.
Cabinet Member for neighbourhood services Councillor David Wood said: “the Recycling Hub at Keynsham is a very ambitious project and will include many new measures to help us to be able to handle many climate and ecological situations. It will transform public recycling facilities and ensure we meet the needs for household waste and recycling now and also for the future”.
