Dawlish Railway Protection Works

A contract to design a series of additional resilience measures for the coastal railway running between Dawlish and Holcombe, South Devon has been awarded to Bam Nuttall by Network Rail.

The project is designed to protect the track from any falling debris from the cliffs by installing netting and catch fences.

Following the announcement of funding for the project Bam Nuttall have begun ground investigation works and site surveys in order to inform the detailed design of the scheme. Land access and consents for the work are also presently being sought. Work is expected to begin in the spring of 2023 with completion planned for 2024.

Bam Nuttall have already completed the first section of a new bigger sea wall at Dawlish and are currently making good progress with the second part.

Bams team in Dawlish have shown great skill and determination to deliver a sea wall to protect the railway and Dawlish centre.
