McLaughlin & Harvey have been awarded a pre-construction contract by Wolverhampton Council for the City Learning Quarter project. They will now begin the development of detailed designs while carrying out prep work before the main construction begins in the spring of next year.
The City Learning Quarter scheme has been developed by the council in partnership with City of Wolverhampton College and is designed to increase the uptake of local training and education.
The development will cover 10,000 sqm around Old Hall Street and the St George’s Parade area of the city centre and include the site on the corner of Garrick Street and Bilston Street.
The development will also surround the City of Wolverhampgton College’s Metro One Campus, the council’s adult Education Service and Central Library, and make way for the college to move from its dated Paget Road site.
The appointment of the preferred construction partner brings the project closer to starting with 2023 expected to be an exciting year for the City Learning Quarter.
