A care centre designed to give short term breaks to support young people with complex disabilities and their families, is to be built in the centre of Scunthorpe.
North Lincolnshire Council awarded Hobson & Porter the contract choosing from its construction & highways framework. The project is being built on the site of the former community health centre which was demolished earlier this year.
The plans for the single storey building are to include multiple sensory rooms, dining and lounge areas, staff bedrooms, 13 specialist accessible residential bedrooms for children with complex need. There will also be accessible kitchens and bathrooms, a medical room, administrative areas and familty rooms. Gardens and outdoor space for staff, residents and families will also be included in the project.
Completion of the work is planned for the spring of 2023.
