Build-to-rent pods contract awarded to Offsite Solutions

A contract to make 588 bathroom pods for a Moda Living development, which is under construction in Glasgow by Robertson Group, has been awarded to Offsite Solutions. The £3m contract will be a third for a Moda Living neighbourhood for Offsite Solutions.

The scheme is designed by Haus Collective and Ryder Architecture with Holland Park being on the site of the former Strathclyde Police HQ. The development will provide 433 studios and one, two and three-bedroom apartments in four blocks of up to 19 storeys, arranged around a landscaped courtyard.

Director at Moda Living, Mark Howe, said: “Our experience of working with Offsite Solutions on other schemes has been very positive, with the efficiency of offsite manufacture, exceptional programme management and with consistently-high qualitity standards.

Managing director of Offsite Solutions James Stephens said: “We were engaged by Robertson and Moda at the very early design stages of this project to develop the use of offsite construction for the shower rooms, ensuites and bathrooms. This collaboration has optimised the benefits of offsite manufacturing and gives the client and main contractor greater certainty of cost and programme together with simplified procurement and improved quality”.

“We have manufactured approximately 1,200 bathroom pods for Moda to date – Holland Park follows our successful delivery of pods for the award-winning Moda, Angel Gardens in Manchester and Moda, The Lexington in Liverpool”.

Architectural director at Ryder Architecture, Matt Haggerty said: “The use of bathroom pods will bring the process-driven efficiencies of offsite manufacturing together with enhanced quality but with no compromise on design”.

Offsite Solutions has developed the steel-framed bathroom, shower and ensuite pods specifically to Moda’s specification, and includes contemporary light grey porcelain tiling throughout, square wall-mounted wash hand basins, wall-hung toilets, brushed steel accessories, heated towel rails and recessed colour-matched cabinets. The shower rooms have rainfall showers, and the bathrooms are pre-fitted with both overhead and hand-held showers, together with a pivot shower screen.

The pods are all supplied floorless as this avoids the need for a recess in the floor slab to minimise floor build-up for each storey whilst achieving continuous level floors.
