Following confirmation of a funding deal a project to construct 464 home build-to-rent scheme in Edinburgh has been awarded to John Graham Construction.
Heimstaden Bostad have agreed to fund and secure Platform’s project for SEK1-5bn (£122m). The build project was then awarded at the same time, with completion planned for the middle of 2024.
The scheme is in the Bonnington regeneration area, which lies 2km north of Edinburgh’s city centre. The Bonnington area will be connected to the city centre by tram. The development will have 30,200m of lettable space, together with reception area, concierge desk, a gym, a co-working area and rooftop terraces with stunning views.
Platform brought the site together in 2019 and 2020 from land that had three separate owners, and then obtained planning permission for the 464 residential apartments.
Heimstaden Bostad head of investment UK, Christian Birrell said: “This a major step for us to provide high quality and affordable homes to our customers in line with our strategy to expand our presence in the UK market”.
Platform are to act as developer on the project and will be retained as asset manager once the development is completed.
